Rock Notes

July 2015 Notes
Surfs Up! Well here it's the middle of summer in California and I must do all of my summer rituals. First, I always listen to the Beach Boys to get summer started and this year it's even better cuz the Brian Wilson movie 'Love and Mercy' hit the theaters in June, and my lovely wife and myself went to see it a few weeks ago, and it was really good. Really got me in the mood to listen to my Beach Boys box set for sure! And then, I always have to watch my summer movies... first is 'Endless Summer' the surfing movie from the 60's, and then maybe a another surfing movie like 'Step into liquid' or 'Big Wednesday'. I also have to watch 'Mister Hobbs Takes a Vacation', with my favorite actor Jimmy Stewart as the hapless dad on vacation in Half Moon Bay with his wife and teenage kids. It's a classic!
So now that I have told you all that is summer to me let's get on with what The Sorentinos are up to this summer. Our new cd 'Rock and Roll Beat' is out all over the world, and to celebrate, we will be doing a record release party at the KRSH 'Studio in the Backyard' next Thursday, the 23rd of July. And then doing another release party, at The Fenix in San Rafael, Thursday August 20th for all of our Marin County fans. Both parties should be swinging and we are looking forward to playing all the new songs for you, along with a few old chestnuts from the expansive Sorentino catalog.
I will be doing a in station with Bill Bowker sometime next week. I will try to post it on Facebook when I get the day and the time. A big thankyou to Bill and everyone at KRSH for the years of support they have given us without having to pay them to play our music, which is how most of the music world works, sad but true......
But I digress , the band is having a lot of fun playing gigs in our 29th year of rocking the free world, and the new songs are starting to find their grooves every gig we play, and the peoples seem to be digging what needs to be dug! So keep a eye on the website, we will be playing out live through October then take a break till our Christmas shows, and then back for our 30 year anniversary next year. Then we will see what the great spirit deals our way,
Mahalo , Danny
