RORY

  • Drums:
  • 7 snare drums, two of them from the early 1900’s a classic 1936 Slingerland Radio King, and one snare drum custom built for him by John Riolo in Oregon
  • sets include a vintage late 1950’s Slingerland, and the first Pearl wood/fiberglass from the early 1970’s
  • His main drum set used with The Sorentinos is a Gretch re issue Broadcaster round badge series. He saw it just as Stan & Jerry were setting it up at The Professional Drum Shop in Hollywood. He walked out of the store with it a few minutes later. Eventually they caught up with him and he had to fork over the dough.
  • Cymbals:
  • Paiste, Bosphorus and Zildjian depending on the job
  • Two include a 17 inch 1910 Zildjian ride out, that once belonged to George Wettling during WW2
  • And a very old China Boy circa 1890 from Hong Kong that makes a sound that is second to none. It also has a few sharp edges that keep the hounds at bay
