Rock Notes
- August 2013
- So here we are in August already.
- Here are some facts about August just because I was wondering......
- his month was originally named Sextilis in Latin, because it was the sixth month in the original ten-month Roman calendar under Romulus in 753 BC, when March was the first month of the year. About 700 BC it became the eighth month when January and February were added to the year before March by King Numa Pompilius, who also gave it 29 days. Julius Caesar added two days when he created the Julian calendar in 45 BC giving it its modern length of 31 days. In 8 BC it was renamed in honor of Augustus (despite common belief, he did not take a day from February; see the debunked theory on month lengths). According to a Senatus consultum quoted by Macrobius, he chose this month because it was the time of several of his great triumphs, including the conquest of Egypt.
- So there all you need to know about August I would think!
- Anyway. we just got back from our annual Virginia City NV. gig and it was a blast as always. My brother and his wife came down from Seattle this year and I had some old high school buddies show up so it was really extra fun for me! Looking forward to going back next year if everything remains the same.
- So the new CD is doing very well and the peoples seem to be digging the 50’s vibe and overall digabilty of all that there is do be dug, and we are having a good time digging it! I know that was a lot of digging I am exhausted!
- Well we have a few more shows coming that should be big fun. We are doing a KRUSH backyard concert on Thursday August 8th in Santa Rosa, and we just got the opening slot for The Doobies Brothers at Saratoga Mountain Winery on Friday September 13th! And a few other gigs are popping in for our summer/fall season, overall one of our most rocking years! So you can never tell when the rock will roll, just have to do your best to push it along.
- Well that's it for now come out to a gig if you can, the band is playing really good right now. And as Stevie Winwood says on Traffic's 1st album "Who knows what tomorrow might bring"?
- Dig you later , Danny man
